Vegetable groups
Vegetables can be put into groups depending on the part of the plant that is eaten. Examples of these groups include:
- root vegetables: carrots, beetroot, radish
- leafy vegetables: silverbeet, lettuce, spinach, cabbage
- immature seeds: peas, beans
- stem tubers: potatoes, yams, kūmara
- immature flowers: cauliflower, globe artichoke
- fruit eaten as vegetables: pumpkins, tomatoes, cucumber.
