Plant families

Plants also belong to families.

A plant family is a group of plants that share the same features. For example the legume family includes plants with a pod and an irregularly shaped flower.

Plant families have scientific  names as well as their common names. A plant may have more than one common name  so their scientific name will ensure that two people in different parts of the  world can discuss exactly the same plant.
