What you will do
Use the HT1102 study plan as a guide to work your way through this topic.
You will:
- complete a weed study
- build and use a cloche
- identify and describe products used to improve plant growth.
Assessment
Your teacher will look at how well you:
- complete the weed study
- describe in your diary how you made and used a cloche
- identified and described products used to improve plant growth.
What you will need
- nasturtium seedlings
- your diary
- a space in your garden to plant your nasturtium seedlings.
Either:
- clear plastic sheet
- number 8 wire or something similar, for example, wire coat hangers stretched out
- two wooden pegs
- six metres of string
or:
- four plastic bottles, for example, a two-litre milk or soft drink bottle.
And any of the following:
- garden magazines
- product and advertising material from hardware shops and horticulture supplies
- the Internet e.g. websites such as www.mitre10.co.nz
- junk mail.
